Summary
The Big Three were the three strongest powers at Paris Peace treaty. They were David Lloyd George of England, George Clemenceau of France and Woodrow Wilson of America. Each one had a different agenda when dealing with Germany and their allies. Lloyd George wanted reparations from the losing side to pay for the damages done to England, but he wanted hurt Germany too badly because he wanted to keep them as a trading partner. Clemenceau wanted Germany gone. He was out for blood during the war Frances country land was utterly annihilated so Clemenceau wanted money to pay for the repairs. Also he wanted vengeance agents Germany. He wanted Germany crippled so they may never return tho the power that they once were Woodrow Wilson wanted to secure peace forever. So he brought to the table his "14 points" and the league of Nations. suggestive question What if Germany was allowed at the Paris Peace treaty? Quotes “I cannot conceive any greater cause of war than that the German people, who have certainly proved themselves one of the most vigorous and powerful races in the world, should be surrounded by a number of small States, many of them consisting of people who have never previously set up a stable system of government for themselves, but each of them containing large masses of Germans clamouring for reunion with their native land. The proposal of the Polish commission that we should place 2,100,000 Germans under the control of a people which is of a different religion and which has never proved its capacity for stable self-government throughout its history must, in my judgment, lead to a new war in the East of Europe.” -David Loyid George |
